What firms tell us

Why Australian law firms leave LEAP.

These are the conversations we have every week. If any of this sounds familiar, keep reading.

1
The renewal notice arrived.
LEAP does not publish its pricing. Firms consistently report significant increases at renewal with little room to negotiate. You are locked in or you are out — there is no middle ground.
2
You are paying for two systems.
LEAP does not include general accounting. You need Xero on top — two monthly fees, two subscriptions, two sets of bank reconciliations every month. Law App includes it all in one.
3
The contract locks you in.
LEAP uses multi-year contracts — typically three years. Verified user reviews confirm LEAP pursues the remaining balance on early exit including collection agencies. One Australian solicitor took LEAP to court. The case was settled.
4
The per-user bill keeps growing.
Every new hire increases your LEAP bill. Per-user pricing ties software cost directly to headcount. Law App charges per file opened — ten lawyers or two, the cost structure is the same.
In 2024, a Melbourne lawyer using LEAP's AI tool was referred to a complaints body after the software generated fabricated case citations in family court proceedings.
This is not a knock on AI broadly — it is a caution about deploying AI features in legal practice without appropriate safeguards. Law App's approach to AI is deliberate and measured. We are building AML compliance tooling directly into the platform — not rushing features that could expose your firm to professional risk.

From firms who made the move

What firms say after leaving LEAP.

The conversations that happen after the renewal notice arrives.

We got the renewal notice and the number had gone up significantly. We had been on LEAP for three years and never felt like we got what we paid for. That was the moment we started looking.

— Principal, Queensland Law Firm

The thing that surprised us most was how much simpler the accounting became. We had been running LEAP and Xero side by side for three years. Having everything in one place made an immediate difference.

— Practice Manager, Australian Law Firm

Single year contracts felt almost too good to be true after LEAP. Knowing we could leave at twelve months if it did not work took all the pressure off the decision.

We built the tool that freed
Australian firms from LEAP's data lock.

When LEAP blocked bulk document extraction from their cloud platform, Australian law firms had no way to get their own files out. Law Support Australia built the first document extractor in the industry to solve it — and then made it available to everyone.

LEAP's cloud platform had a hard limit — firms could only export 100 files at a time. For a practice with thousands of documents built up over years, leaving LEAP was not just a software decision. It was a logistical nightmare with no solution. Until we built one.

Law Support Australia created the first bulk document extraction tool in the Australian legal software market. It bypassed LEAP's export restrictions and allowed firms to retrieve every document, every matter, every file — cleanly, completely, and without having to go through LEAP's own costly export process.

We then made that tool available across the industry. FilePro consultants use it. SILQ Infinity consultants use it. ActionStep consultants use it. We did not keep it proprietary — because we believed Australian law firms deserved to own their own data, regardless of which platform they were leaving.

Your data is yours. It always has been. LEAP made it difficult to act on that. We made it simple.

Why Law App

Everything LEAP has. Plus what it does not.

Three things Law App does that LEAP simply cannot.

Full general accounting built in
LEAP requires Xero. Law App does not. Trust accounting, office accounting, bank reconciliation, BAS assistance, and reporting are all included in a single subscription. One system. One login. For many firms the saving on Xero alone offsets a significant portion of the Law App cost.
Per file pricing — your clients fund it
LEAP charges per user per month. Law App charges per file opened — and that charge can be added directly to the client's file as a disbursement. Your software cost becomes a client cost, not a firm overhead. Ten lawyers costs the same as two.
Single year contracts — your choice
Law App offers single year contracts only. No three year lock-ins. No exit penalties. If Law App is not working for your firm after twelve months, you are not stuck. We believe software should earn its renewal every year — not hold firms hostage to a contract signed under pressure.
