Software

Additional Software

The following software is required or recommended alongside Law App.

💼

Microsoft 365 Business

Microsoft 365 Business level or above is required for all Law App users. This provides Outlook integration, Word document generation, and OneDrive connectivity.

🤖

ChatGPT Pro Optional

For document template creators who wish to use AI-assisted template building. Not required for day-to-day Law App usage.

Connectivity

Internet Speed Requirements

As a 100% cloud-based platform, Law App requires a reliable internet connection. Recommended speeds depend on firm size.

Small Firm

1 – 5 Users

100 Mbps minimum

Provides 20 Mbps per user with headroom for Outlook, Teams, document uploads, and bank feed syncing running alongside Law App.

Medium Firm

6 – 19 Users

250 – 500 Mbps

Multiple concurrent users running document generation, trust accounting, email saving, and video calls simultaneously.

Large Firm

20+ Users

500 – 1000+ Mbps

High-volume document generation, bulk email operations, intensive bank reconciliation, and firm-wide concurrent access.

Additional considerations: Upload speeds should be proportionate to download speeds for optimal performance. Low latency is important for real-time interactions. A reliable, stable connection is more important than peak speed. For remote workers, allow a baseline of 30 Mbps per user.

Security

Data Storage and Security

Law App is hosted on Microsoft Azure in Australia. Your data never leaves the country.

  • Azure data centres located in New South Wales and Victoria
  • Dual backup environment per Law Society standards
  • OWASP 2 security protocols applied across the platform
  • ATO whitelisted with annual security audits
  • Token expiry durations vary across applications for security

Infrastructure at a Glance

  • Microsoft Azure Australia East
  • Data hosted exclusively in Australia
  • Dual backup across two Australian regions
  • Annual ATO compliance audits
  • OWASP 2 security standards
Compliance

Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)

Law App is designed to support your firm's obligations under the Australian Privacy Principles.

APP 1 — Open and Transparent Management

Law App supports transparent management of personal information through clear data handling processes and audit trails.

APP 11 — Robust Data Security

OWASP 2 protocols, Azure infrastructure, dual backups, and token-based access controls protect data at every level.

APPs 3 and 5 — Collection and Use

Law App collects and uses data only for the purposes required to deliver legal practice management services.

APP 7 — Direct Marketing

Law App does not use client data stored within the platform for direct marketing purposes.

APPs 12 and 13 — Access and Correction

Users have full access to their data and can correct personal information at any time through the platform.

Important: Ultimate compliance responsibility under the Australian Privacy Principles rests with the law firm. Law App provides the technical infrastructure and controls to support your obligations, but each firm must ensure its own policies and practices meet the requirements.

International

GDPR

As an Australian-based platform with data hosted exclusively in Australia, Law App has limited direct obligation under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. However, we are committed to the principles of data protection, privacy by design, and transparent data handling that underpin GDPR.

Law firms that handle data relating to EU residents should ensure their own data management practices comply with GDPR requirements. Law App provides the security infrastructure and data controls to support these obligations.

Configuration

Browser and Network Configuration

Ensure your browser and network are configured correctly for the best Law App experience.

🌐

Browser Settings

  • Use Google Chrome (recommended)
  • Allow pop-ups for Law App domains
  • Ensure JavaScript is enabled
  • Whitelist Law App in any ad blockers

  • Allow Law App domain through your firewall
  • Whitelist relevant domains and IP addresses if applicable
  • Ensure outbound HTTPS (port 443) is open
  • No VPN or proxy interference with Law App traffic
Integration

Microsoft 365 Integration

Law App integrates directly with Microsoft 365 for document generation, email, and file management. Please note the following requirements.

  • Only Microsoft 365 Business-level accounts are supported
  • Student accounts, .edu accounts, and .gov accounts are not supported
  • Standard Microsoft 365 security protocols only
  • Custom IT security overlays are not supported

Why Business-level only? Law App relies on Microsoft 365 APIs for Outlook integration, Word document generation, and OneDrive connectivity. These APIs require Business-level licensing to function correctly. Non-business accounts lack the necessary permissions and API access.
